Winter is the perfect season for black and white photography.  The stark contrast created by ice, snow and shadows really lends itself to a monochrome image.  I took this image along the shore of Binney Brook in Wilmington, Vermont.  The brook was frozen over and I had access to areas that just last month, I would have had to wade in the water to capture.
